The J. F. Barnes' Method of Myofascial release is a form of corrective massage that focuses on releasing restrictions within the fascia system. The fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web without interruption. Malfunction in the fascia system due to trauma, poor posture, and/or inflammation can result in restrictions that can have a binding effect, putting pressure on nerves, muscles, bones, and organs. This can create pain and symptoms throughout the body. During a MFR treatment, the therapist will begin with an evaluation with respect to range of motion and postural analysis. The treatment will consist of sustained holding pressure at the site of restriction, following the fascial voice from barrier to barrier. Once a fascial restriction is released, one may feel better range of motion, improved posture, and overall better health.
